Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain a level gauge for each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through various methods such as the use of upgrade components and also increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged, which can increase their stats.

Upgradeable items are available all over the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. Upgrade components are the main method of upgrading equipment. These are the items that slot into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots for upgrading and some require a certain amount of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer an overall bonus.

There are many types of upgrade components in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, can be put on any equipment, and offer less than equipment-specific upgrades. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and provide various bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of the item's collection to providing extra crafting materials.

Choose the item from your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The window will show an overview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected stats are after the upgrade, and any materials or components required. If you do not have enough of either the upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.

The amount of upgrade components required for a given item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the level of upgrade and rarity, however it can be reduced by a variety of methods, such as buying upgrades from a vendor or trading them to other players.

Almost all weapons can be upgraded with the use of a prefix upgrade like an insignia or a rune. Many can be upgraded with a suffix upgrade. These upgrades alter the name of the item, adding an adjective, for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the noninscribable wands, shields and foci from Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any mods at all.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They are animated to draw the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language, making them more effective in communicating a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs can also increase the retention of a message by evoking an emotional connection in the brain.

Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by a certain amount. This is shown on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the exact amount at which glyphs can improve the stat, but rather the maximum value by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph depends on the tier as well as the quality of the product you are in awe of.

The majority of upgrade components that are installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have a rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece of equipment by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

If you want to remove the glyph from an item you must salvage it with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is located will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered by removing the glyph fragments.

When you remove an item after adding a glyph the shards that are part of the glyph will vanish. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. For instance the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at one time. This is beneficial for players who take many hits from their enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes of equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from various sources, including mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player a random affix that is typically better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can be used to boost the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items don't appear in the menu of item upgrades, but they are still able to be upgraded. By pressing the "upgrade button", you can recycle these items that have been rerolled. This will change the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items be chosen for recycling. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. The amount is determined based on the item's rarity as well as its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than those with lower levels.

Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling Weapon Traits for upgraded units. A reroll will roll the percentage chance of a weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains the same. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.

Rerolling is an excellent option to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware that the total ilvl will be diminished by the number of the rerolls required to bring it to the final ilvl. This is evident on Diadems and Rings, as they have no other options to raise the ilvl.

Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's more fair to allow players to pay for it with money or food items that allows them to make changes to their builds without having to spend excessive amounts of time. However the paid rerolls aren't something the developers want to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to include a race change potion in the near future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item upgrader. The first is to increase the upgrade amount, which increases the value of upgrading a given stat. The second is to increase the upgrade effect that increases the healing or damage of a given stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. When this is done, the new Best item upgrade will retain its iLevel, but will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded type of item.

The iLevel can also change depending on the Best item upgrade's upgrade path and its base level. For instance an item that has been upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an exceptional one can be expected to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
